HEURISTICS: Not my fault
Why radical responsibility is the hardest but best thing you can do for yourself.
This is Heuristics - where assumptions and short-cuts are called out and broken down so that you can invest with greater clarity.
Investor forums are full of finger pointing. But how often does that analysis extend to the plaintiffs? How many points of failure did the investor fail to see? to consider? to educate themselves?
I support transparency and sharing of information, but overlooking ourselves as part of the equation is missing a large - and possibly most important - part of the story.
Learn radical responsibility
The idea of radical responsibility is one of the most difficult yet liberating practices I have ever undertaken. I admit - it’s really, really hard. Oftentimes painful. Yet, it is the path to growth and ultimately better life outcomes.
Which of these two statements is more likely to result in learning and making a better choice in the future?
The GP did a poor job of underwriting the deal.
or
The LP did a poor job of underwriting their investment.
I prefer the latter. Which is why radical responsibility is the underlying principle of my work here. To review the infinite aspects of how we make decisions as people, as investors; review the data, the facts; and learn how we can do a better job of not only investing but living.
Radical Responsibility in Action:
I cover four topics:
The Path to Net Zero: 15-year, three-part series about my journey as an investor.
The Debrief: The post-game analysis for LPs. Breaking down the plan, the reality, the result, and key take-aways of real deals to better understand risk and invest accordingly.
Zero Assumptions: Where assumptions are called out and broken down so that you can invest with greater clarity.
Using AI: Best practices for using AI to analyze deal performance, keep up on quarterly reports, and find the next move.
If you’re an LP looking to learn, you’re in the right place. Welcome.
If you’re looking to point fingers, I invite you to reconsider.
